This also includes advice on the type of installation you may require, installation of all new cabling, correct type of consumer unit for your premises and all electrical accessories, including all up to date safety earth bonding according to IEE Wiring Regulations. All electrical works, carried out by us are certificated where necessary.
Q: What are the indications that a rewire is needed?
Cables run through walls and fuse boxes and are hidden away in cupboards, making it all too easy to forget that the electrical wiring does need checking periodically. Cables, sockets and switches all deteriorate with use over time and require regular checking. All houses should have their electrical wiring checked at least every ten years.
Cables coated in black rubber, which was phased out in the sixties. Cables coated in lead or fabric are even older! Modern cables use PVC installation. A fuse box with a wooden back, cast iron switches and/or a haphazard mixture of circuit boxes. Older round-pin sockets and round light switches, braided flex hanging from ceiling roses to light fittings, black switches, and/or sockets mounted on or in skirting boards. Wall mounted light switches in bathrooms.
New Installations
Hodges Electrical Contractors have worked on numerous new properties assisting the builders/developers with their electrical requirements/installations.
Inspection & Testing
An Electrical Report is similar to an inspection and testing service in that we carry out a visual inspection of the incoming system, fuse boards and cabling. A percentage of electrical accessories are opened up and visually checked. We then prepare an Electrical Report for you, based on the visual inspection, listing any items found that do not meet current regulations and what works are required to bring the installation up to current standards. Periodical Inspection Report This is produced if a 5-10 year inspection is due or for insurance, accreditation required.
Minor works If you have a small job done we will test and inspect the circuit that we are working on and produce a minor works certificate
Completion Certificate New works, new circuits introduced, complete or semi rewires etc.
Extractor Fans
Hodges Electrical Contractors recommend that extractor fans are installed in properties wherever there is likely to be a build up of steam/condensation, such as, bathrooms, shower rooms, toilets, kitchens and utility rooms.
